Neil Boylan is the contracts director at Jones and Woolman UK and he specialises in site operations, overseeing commercial contracts and working to build relationships with existing clients across the UK.
He joined the business in 1996 as a trainee site fitter and has worked his way up through the company, taking on various roles and responsibilities. Prior to coming to Jones and Woolman UK, he worked in the licenced trade – pubs and nightclubs. He’s learned everything there is to know about weathering systems and building penetrations through hands-on experience and hard work at Jones and Woolman UK. His proudest achievement at Jones and Woolman UK is climbing his way up the career ladder to where he is today.
We always try to promote from within, which gives everyone in the team an opportunity to grow and expand their careers. Of course, those opportunities aren’t just given out – Neil’s dedication, strong work ethic and extensive knowledge and experience all contributed to his various promotions over the years.
Neil’s extensive experience also makes him very good at overseeing site operations. With almost three decades under his belt, he knows what it takes to ensure a project runs smoothly, and can recognise the early signs of potential problems, so the project can be put back on track quickly.
During his time at Jones and Woolman UK, Neil has had the opportunity to work on a number of prestigious and memorable projects. “Hamad International Airport in Doha was an exciting project,” he says. “We worked on it in 2014 across the warehouse facilities’ roofing areas for a new duty-free warehouse and in-flight store .” Neil is also a big fan of F1 motor racing, so the work we did for Mercedes at their Brackley venue was particularly exciting for him.
As for the future of the business, and the weatherproofing industry in general, Neil says that he’s optimistic about the potential for system developments that can further improve site operations. “Product innovations and advancements in material quality will pave the way for new solutions, giving us new ways to fulfil client briefs and create weatherproofed and thermally efficient buildings,” he explains.
When he’s not working, Neil enjoys spending time with his family in the garden and adds that his favourite holiday is one that he gets to spend time in the countryside and the great outdoors.
